So why am I writing about women of color, eh? Why not just write about women issues in general? Why not write about all folks of color? Why not write about something much more definable, much less abstract, in the view of some. I’ll start with my own experience as a self-identified woman (and mother) of color.
With different peaks in the woman’s rights movement, women of color often times felt their voices were not being heard, their needs not addressed, their rights not as valued, and their existence invisible in comparison to the mostly white emerging feminism.Women of color didn’t fit into the mainstream feminism. But that was a long time ago, right? What about today?
