xMabaitx blogs on the anniversary of the Katipunan resistance movement in the Philippines against Spanish colonial rule:

The Katipunan was the Philippine underground revolutionary movement which valiantly rose up in armed resistance against the throne of Spain.  The women and men of a “lowly colony” who dared to stand tall against a superiorly armed military force and economic world power have left an indelible imprint upon the hearts and minds of any and all sons and daughters of the Philippine nation who have come after them.  Despite the certainty of torture and the loss of their own lives those who were brave enough to take up arms and cry out for liberation knew that they could no longer endure another 300 years of colonial rule under the flag of Spain.
